GIVE ME, O LORD, A HEART THAT BENDS
toward your long-awaited day;
a heart that turns from love of self
and by your grace is moved to pray.

2 Give me, O Lord, a heart that seeks
to know your pleasure, hear your praise;
that counts as nought the praise of men,
but longs to one day see your face.

3 Give me, O Lord, a heart that weeps
for those who cannot hear your voice;
a heart that knows the fear of hell
and longs to hear the saved rejoice.

4 Give me, O Lord, a heart that sings
for every breath it breathes anew;
a heart that cannot help itself
but sounds its every beat for you.
