For harvest fields so full of crops
For harvest fields so full of crops,
let’s give thanks to God;
for farmers and our local shops,
let’s give thanks to God.
Chorus:
Give thanks to God,
give thanks to God,
give thanks to God;
give thanks to God our Maker.
2. For all the lovely food we eat,
let’s give thanks to God;
for bread, potatoes, veg and meat,
let’s give thanks to God.
Chorus
3 For all our warm and comfy clothes,
let’s give thanks to God;
for jumpers, trousers, skirts and shoes,
let’s give thanks to God.
Chorus
4 For homes that keep us safe at night,
let’s give thanks to God;
for running water, warmth and light,
let’s give thanks to God.
Chorus
5. For family and friends who care,
let’s give thanks to God;
for all the good things that we share,
let’s give thanks to God.
Chorus

Tune
The story behind the hymn
Written for Otford Evangelical Free Church’s Sunday school harvest celebration in the later 1990s.
Eleanor borrowed the tune from ‘Walk in the Light’.
Having accepted Eleanor Collins’ words for this item, she explained that she had used the music for another song and adapted it to fit her words.
This gave the opportunity to arrange the tune as she suggested.
