I cannot know the love
I CANNOT KNOW THE LOVE THAT BROUGHT YOU DOWN TO EARTH.
I dare not think that it reflects upon my worth.
I cannot quantify the gratitude I feel
that you left your home and Father just for me.
From eternal God to mortal man
designer subject to his plan;
from Father-King to helpless child,
all heaven surrendered now.
You walked the road to death for me
in meekness and humility;
the priest became the sacrifice,
the Shepherd of the sheep became the Lamb.
2 I cannot grasp the heaven you gladly left behind.
You chose the bleak confinement of the human mind.
I cannot speak the words that overwhelm my heart
that you left your home and Father just for me.
From eternal God…
3 I scarce can comprehend the grace you offer me;
that you should leave such glory, knowing what would be.
I cannot offer less than my life in return,
for you left your home and Father just for me.
From eternal God…
