From then until 1986 she taught at the Perkins School of Theology, where she received the first ‘Woman of Achievement’ award. She served on the music staff of United Methodist churches in Texas (Northaven, Corsicana and Dallas) and of St Andrew’s Presbyterian Ch in Dallas from 1941–60.
