b Newcastle-upon-Tyne 1818, d. Hartlepool, Co Durham 1888. Of German parentage, he became organist at St Andrew’s Roman Catholic Ch, Newcastle, before teaching music at Tynemouth, then singing and piano at Durham. Wrote and edited music for RC schools, and produced a popular Royal Modern Tutor for the Pianoforte 1858. Nos.41=595, 921.
