b Resolven, nr Neath (Glam) 1879, d 1940. Studied under Prof David Evans (1874–1948 qv) before being appointed organist at London Rd Presbyterian Ch, Neath. He excelled at conducting large choirs, such as that for the National Eisteddfod at Birkenhead in 1917. In 1919 he became Conductor of the Liverpool Welsh Choral Union, and in 1933 was commended by Delius for his Mass of Life at the Wrexham National Eisteddfod. He later became Vice-President of the Delius Society; MusD (Oxon). No.692.
