Search our hearts, we pray, Lord;
shine your light within,
when we call our failings
anything but sin:
2. Proud of our achievements,
though our aims are wrong;
you can see our motives,
tainted all along.
3. Search our poor excuses
when we shift the blame,
seeing faults in others
while we do the same.
4. You, O Christ, can cleanse us,
judge us and forgive:
in the light you give us
let us walk, and live.
