James Ward was born in Belleville, Illinois, USA in March 1950.
He received a BA in Music at Covenant College in 1972 and an MM in Jazz piano from the University of Tennessee in 1996.
James was raised in a pastor’s home and memorised scripture as part of a daily regimen as a child and teenager. He and his wife, Beth, have remained charter members of New City Fellowship church in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he serves as music director.
James has written songs for worship and performance for 45 years, recording with artists for 14 albums and has arranged worship music for cross-cultural church. He toured as a singer songwriter for 17 years, was a High School music teacher for 5 years and spent 14 years as a full time music director.
