b Cefn-mawr, Wrexham, NE Wales 1861, d Prestatyn, Flints 1941. He spent most of his life in his home town, and became Precentor at the nearby Capel Mawr Calvinistic Methodist Ch at Rhosllannerchrugog, Denbighs (Clwyd). He was a well-known choral conductor, eventually retiring to Prestatyn. One hymn tune stands out from the many he composed; though widely sung in Wales and known among Baptists, it has not gained much wider recognition. No.702.
