(not in Praise! index), b Barnstaple, N Devon 1941. Borden Grammar Sch, Sittingbourne, Kent and London Bible Coll (BD 1963). Beginning his ministry in 1963 as asst at Lansdowne Evangelical Ch, SE London, he became Pastor of Hook Evangelical Ch, Surbiton, Surrey, in 1966, remaining there until 1995. As President of FIEC 1995–98 he was a widely-travelled preacher and conference speaker. Since then he has continued a writing and preaching ministry which includes many FIEC events, and is chairman (since 1995) of Praise! Trustees and Editorial Board. He is the author of several popular Christian books and booklets including biographies of Wm Tyndale (God’s outlaw) and Jn Newton (Through many dangers), and editor of others including Horizons of Hope (2000) featuring the testimonies of disabled Christians. Grace—amazing grace is ‘my attempt at theology for the heart’, while his best-seller remains Revival. He is the general editor of the ongoing series of mainly biographical ‘travel guides’ from Day One publications, Travels with… Among his own contributions are the pocket volumes on John Blanchard, William Tyndale, and (jointly with Clive Anderson) the British MuseumHis book on Scripture, Nothing but the Truth, is helpfully quoted in Blanchard and Lucarini’s Can we Rock the Gospel? (2006). Until her death in 1998 after a long illness, his wife Barbara shared in his ministry in many ways, both spoken and written.
