b Abingdon, Oxon 1956. John Mason High Sch; Lincoln Coll Oxford (MA, Music); Strasbourg Conservatoire (organ studies); and Homerton Coll Cambridge (PGCE). A travelling scholarship furthered his interest in the French romantic composers; he has specialised in French repertoire and improvisation, and his many CDs include a recording of the complete works of Eugène Gigout (1844–1925). He is currently Associate Director of Music at All Souls’ Langham Place, London and Curator Organist at St James’s Clerkenwell, and has given organ recitals and concert performances at many major centres. Working with Noël Tredinnick (qv) at All Souls and in recordings, he has also featured in many ‘Prom Praise’ events. He is a composer, arranger, orchestrator, conductor, and music teacher who also examines for the RCO and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music; he has contributed to the RSCM’s Church Music Quarterly and is an associate of Jubilate Hymns, living at Sanderstead, Surrey.
