To you, my God, all praise is due

To you, my God, all praise is due,
I will exalt and worship you!
In faithfulness you will fulfil
each ancient purpose of your will.
In hollow walls the godless trust—
you turn their strongholds into dust!
Their boastful pride is ruined too,
in awe they bow and honour you.

2 The poor find refuge at your side,
the needy find a place to hide;
the heat is on, the storm so strong—
your wall is high, your shadow long.
You have prepared a feast divine
of sumptuous food and vintage wine;
the doors are open wide to all
whose ears are open to your call.

3 In heaven’s highest dwelling place
you’ll wipe all tears from every face;
the shroud of death you will destroy,
no pain will cloud eternal joy.
Your people gladly will proclaim:
‘This is our God, we’ll praise his name,
we trusted him, we heard his voice,
in his salvation we’ll rejoice!’

4 Your victory will be complete,
the devil crushed beneath your feet;
the proud who in their wisdom trust
you’ll bring right down into the dust.
To you, my God, all praise is due,
I will exalt and worship you!
In faithfulness you will fulfil
each ancient purpose of your will.
